This week we’ve got selections from a multi talented gentleman that goes by the name Lucas. The biggest mix yet and filled with a variety of amazing artist including Kid Static, Women and The Black Keys. A personal favorite being Mayer Hawthorne’s track Green Eyed Love. Starts off with some electronic and ends with some…well Tom Waits. There are too many good songs to choose from on this one so it’s a good thing you don’t have to.

This Canadian duo is made up of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass. Ethan found Alice and asked her to do some vocals on top of his instrumental recording. Instantly they had something unique. Apparently they put on one hell of a live show which is something I hope to see very soon. Until then I will be satisfied listening to their electronic happy sad music.
Since the song above features HEALTH I thought it only right to bring them to attention. They have been described as noise rock and experimental which i feel is probably fairly accurate. Mainly I like this song and wanted to share it.
Swedish born Lykke Li brings a sound that is innocent and unique. The music on her album Youth Novels is an awesome match for her delicate sounding voice. And when she sings it makes you want to give her a hug. For a different take, I’m sharing a CSS remix of one of her hits.
Made up of two Australian guys by the names of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, Empire of the Sun presents us with a mesmerizing sound and fantastic get ups! Luke Steele was actually from the band The Sleepy Jackson during which Nick Littlemoore co wrote some songs until they created this amazing band. Their sound is magical and soft. I would want to listen to them if I was going on some epic quest or just doing stuff around the house.
I saw this band play when I was 15 years old and it blew my mind. I believe they were The Gossip then and they had amazing beehive wigs on. They are fun to listen to and they make some good music. So in the spirit of the past I decided to share an older track of theirs.
I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I think it’s best if you take a listen and decide for your self.

This weeks music is brought to you by the fantastic John Doyle! Separated into two mini mixes, we are presented with fourteen amazing artists that range from Felix da Housecat to Lykke Li. An instant favorite and for good reason is Crystal Castles track Vanished. On the same note of electronic easy beats, the first mix also features the Australian based band Empire of the Sun. And did I mention Gossip kicks it off….

This second mix is a little softer. Fever Ray makes their second appearance and starts off the mix with her amazing vocals. A personal favorite is Lykke Li track Dance Dance Dance. I can’t hide the fact that her voice is little and cute and it makes me smile!

Yes. Yes. You have probably heard their album or at least a song or two. And if you have then you know they’ve got the goods. San Francisco is where they are from and they sound like it. And I for one can’t wait til the warm air comes and I can listen to their tracks beachfront.
A married couple with big sound. There is more to it than just them but they started this epic sounding band. Their songs don’t lack intensity so get ready.
As mentioned earlier this band is made up of members of Black Mountain with the frontman being Stephen McBean (leader of Black Mountain as well). Pink Mountaintop has a different sound coming from the same people and is another success spawned from their musical friendship.
Since they’ve been mentioned twice now it’s only right to include them.
Black Mountain is a modern take on old sounds of rock and roll ( a bit psychedelic even). Just listen to them. it’s good.
